Way of the Dragon
Poetry braided and poetry pleached
Easy to do when
conclusions are reached
Poetry pleached in a poetry braid
Oh what a hybrid this poet has made!
And now we shall begin!
Gather the strands in your hands...
The way of the dragon is coiled in the dark,
The way of the dragon is torn from the light,
In the curve of the shell, in opacity's mark,
In the rip as a comet goes flaring the bright,
And the silence of matte and the absence of spark.
And the wondering gloried explosion of sight.
Ready again? Let's twist!
Duality reigns in the dragon of skies,
The east and the west are in wisdom and pain,
In the slitter of scales and the glowing of eyes,
From the blare of the sun to the greyness of rain,
In the hush of the evening and at the sun's rise.
In singleness' loss; so duality's gain.
And here we go again -
The gaze of the dragon's hypnotic and cold,
The heat of the heart is in purity's flame,
For the dragon was born with a soul newly old,
And the western folk shudder to mention the name,
In the dragon is treasure to gather and hold,
Shall the wildernessed creature be ever to tame?
Last lines!
For the wisdom of dragons can never be told.
For the way of the dragon's not ours to reclaim.
Time, gentlemen and ladies - Time!
