Hi everyone! Here's the
promised update. I have had a great response to my "By Request"
project so far, and here are the story suggestions that have come in so far.
Please – help me add to these! Or you could cast a vote of support for one I
have already.

STORY SUGGESTIONS SO FAR... updated August 10th 2003.
I reckon you should put things
like mystical creatures and talking animals in stories.
I think you should make horror
stories.
I like horse stories.
Could you write
a story about teens that luv to shop for the latest fashions.
Could you please
write a story about a group of friends that go though a tragedy.
I would like stories written
about teens in luv with the hot guys and how much their friends mean to them.
My daughter
loves fairies, dragons, unicorns and other fantasy creatures (like her mum ;)
I'd like stories with a
relatively adult vocabulary, but whose content it safe for younger kids who
happen to be gifted.
My son has an advanced reading level,
but less concentration span and loves more action to keep him motivated to
continue reading.
A story about a family
affected by bush fires.
A story where the parents are
partners, de facto instead of single parents or married couples. Alternate family
structures are important role models as well!
A story about a Aussie child writing to a child
in a detention center.
A story about a family with six kids in it.
A down-to-Earth Aussie horse
story.
A family break-down story where
the parents are de facto.
A story about bullying.
A story about Pirry, Pirimba,
Amy and Amaryllis. (note –
these are characters from an existing series.)
A story about your 'Translations in Celadon
characters. About them battling life in
new surroundings.
A story about a blind
heroine.
A story about the day to day
problems of living with disabled people.
A diary from a blind person's
perspective would be great.
Something about toucans. I love
those.
Stories that convey a sense of
optimism in what you can achieve, and that 'achievement' is relative to your
own perspective.
Stories about learning being for life - it doesn't just happen at school and school might not be where you learn the most
Simple stories that focus on non-visual
information about experiences (like going on a walk)
A story about dragons and a
young heroine, born in the city slums of a medieval type society. It should
have magic in it as well as a bit of romance.
A modern-day story about
fairies - especially fairy companions/friends.
Another story about Amy and
Amaryllis.
A story about aliens invading earth.
Fantasy stories where they
*don't* defeat the Dark Lord by finding the Ultimate Weapon.
A story about a choir of angels
who become very well known and they can also be heroes if they want to be.
A time travel type story, but rather than someone from now going back, having someone from the past coming to now
A story about a boy who
knows a lot about computers and spying.
A good pirate story.
A story about a blind detective.
Stories about the Greek heroes when they were
little. Not how Heracles strangled two snakes when he was a baby, but
what happened when he was a *boy*. Or Perseus or Theseus.
I always like stories about mythical beasts,
especially Greek and Roman monsters. What happened before they got
killed?
Timeslip stories and stories where you travel to
parallel universes.
Any articles, poems, stories, from
the point of view of being blind.
Multiculturalism from a girl's point of view,
including acceptance of Muslims into school environment for yr 4-6 students.
Australian environmental issues
- drought, bushfire, cyclone, flood, River
Murray salinity, with settings like Great Barrier Reef etc - novels for Yr
4-7. Children coping in these situations - working with their families -
schools to help.
A story about photography.
I love ELEPHANTS, so any story
about that, would interest me.
Sports stories. I'm a sports photographer,
BUT..... sports interest me as well.
I'd like to learn more about the ABORIGINES there in
Australia, we don't read much about them.
A story about a child whose family are Wiccan.
