Before You Send Your Picture Book Text.

Please send your text as a plain MS Word document. Do not use text boxes or fancy formats.

Before you send your picture book text to me, or to any other assessor, it is a good idea to use this trouble shooter.

Will the text fall naturally into the right number of pages?

Have you made a study of recently-published picture books to see how they are structured?

If you have written a rhyming picture book text, does it actually have a story?

If you have used rhyming text, have you made sure the meter is correct?

Does your text have an appropriate theme?

Is your subject matter acceptable to local publishers?

Is your word count correct?
