Did you ever see in reason
An ephemera of things?
Perfection of a blossom
And a butterfly’s brief wings?
So intricate the pattern,
Did it ever seem so wrong-
That it lasted just a little and was gone?
I watched a bee alighting
On a willow’s hanging limb,
A tassel gold and gentle
On the careless cloak of spring,
An instant of a fleeting
Glance was all there was to see-
A glory for an audience of me?
I caught the willow’s visitor
Exposed against the sky,
And by computer wizardry
I found the magic eye,
That lets me keep forever green
An instant of the past-
Whoever said a moment couldn’t last?
And here I wait in winter
For the willows to awake,
For tassels gold and tender
Made to trim sweet Flora’s cape,
As the world is spun anew-
I’ll share the blink of beautiful with you.
Blink of Beautiful
