CALYPSO

 Calypso dance!
A king entrance-
From Ithaca beyond;
In honeyed tune,
Beneath a moon-
Enchanted; he is fond.

Dance Calypso, sinuous!
Veiling truths continuous-
Bear the days of thy disgrace-
In thy lovely face.

Calypso fair!
A hero snare-
Returning from the war;
With glowing sweets
His senses treat
And bind him to thy law.

Smile, Calypso, glorious-
Believe thyself victorious;
Hold his heart in hungry hands-
In thy dreaming land.

Calypso mind
Thy man so blind-
By thy dissembling;
His thoughts to home,
Across the foam-
Lest he's remembering.

Sigh, Calypso, let him go;
Release him now; reap as thou sow-
Eclipsed by dear Penelope;
He'll need no thoughts of thee.
