I met her down by the ocean cliffs
Enchanting Coriander-
Gathering a bunch of thrift
While the salt wind streamed her hair.
The webs of gold soon captured me
Alluring Coriander-
Shawl of grey and eyes of sea
While the shadows dappled there.
A cameo lay at her breast
Delightful Coriander-
Purely as the springtime blessed
In flowers sweet and fair.
A dewy freshness on her brow
Bewitching Coriander-
I lost my heart to her somehow
Her innocence a snare.
I knew I’d love her all my life
Beguiling Coriander-
But she’s my loyal brother’s wife
With nothing I can share.
I smile although my heart was raw
Beloved Coriander-
I bowed and headed for the shore-
To board a vessel there.
I sailed away from longing dreams
And lovely Coriander-
But oh, temptation’s silver gleams-
As brightly as her hair.
