BERNEATHY.
(pronounced; Ber-neath-ee)
Berneathy is the handsome steward of Torm Castle. He is courtly
and courteous, well-learned and well-travelled. Having seen much of McAnerin and visited both Ankoor and Rargon, Berneathy prides himself on
knowing danger when he sees it.
His warning to Merrit Tormblood is ignored, and under
half-serious threat of dismissal, Berneathy falls silent. He is proved right in
the end, but by then it's almost too late for Merrit and Torm.
Berneathy is named for my friend and fellow writer Sally
(Berneathy) Steward. He is featured in the book Candle Iron .
